MS Windows • Re: One Drive compatibility

Personally, I just got a new laptop so this meant I had to find a way of synchronising files between it and my desktop. Bought and tried Resilio Sync Pro for a while but didn't like it much. Then found Syncthing and a front-end for it called SyncTrayzor (which is what I actually use now). Syncthing does the job just fine, it is open-source and free and it has a helpful forum too.

For both Resilio Sync and Syncthing there are helpful videos on YouTube to explain the basics of setting them up and how to use. Both offer the benefits of 'the cloud' for synchronisation but cut out the middle-man, Microsoft, Google, whatever – you run it yourself and all data transmission is encrypted.

For my own use I have my desktop connected to my router via Ethernet and my router communicates with my laptop via Wi-Fi. This 'communication chain' works fine, both directions, without issues. That said I'll now research Nextcloud to see what that is about, initial look says it goes well beyond my simple needs.
