Calc • Re: Remove cell borders of entire row

Is it possible to remove the borders of an entire row in the OpenOffice spreadsheet Calc? I would like to have just a clear, blank space with no grid between the title of my spreadsheet and the body of the spreadsheet.
You use both borders and grid in your topic. Those are different features of Calc.
• Cell borders are set by the Format → Cells → Borders dialog. You can set the borders for any cell or group of cells. Borders are shown when the sheet is printed or exported to PDF.
• The grid is controlled by the option Calc → View → Visual Aids → Gridlines. Options are set with OpenOffice → Preferences on a Mac, Tools → Options on other platforms. This setting affects every cell on every sheet in that spreadsheet. The grid is shown to you on the screen when viewing/editing the sheet. Unless you activate Format → Page → Sheet → Print → Grid, the grid does not appear when the sheet is printed or exported to PDF.

You didn't attach a document to demonstrate the situation. I will guess that your clear blank space is the second row of the sheet. To remove borders there, select the row and use the Borders dialog. To remove the grid there, select the row and use Format → Merge Cells.

If you need any additional assistance attach a spreadsheet demonstrating the situation (remove confidential information then use Post Reply, not Quick Reply, and don't attach a picture instead of the spreadsheet itself). I will not help further unless you attach. Explain if you are asking about borders or the grid. Explain if you are asking about:
• the appearance of the document on your screen or
• its appearance when printed.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
