It appears it might be something on the lines of what keme says, even though I used the same computer, and happened only with many docs created in OpenOffice, which is why I came here!![:)]( "Smile")
It was maddening!
Perhaps it was due to highly unstable internet during the last heat wave, and then the modem itself dying. (I had many fires going at once!)
Thank you again for your help, I will try to solve it from the Apple side of things...
